There is a steep learning curve with the technology of the truck and the personalization available, but a good long trip like that helps to sort it all out and learn what the options are. No quality based issues with the truck yet, and hopefully none on the horizon. Finally, the GMC dealer experience has gone upscale and every dealing I had with them, beginning to end, has been easy. Moving up from a Subaru Legacy, this was an obvious upgrade, what is surprising is that a vehicle this size is actually more efficient than a car that weighed 2000lbs less, and had a 2.5 liter 4cyl turbo engine. While the dog would have preferred a yard, even he had room to move and get comfortable. The connectivity was loved by the kids, as was the ability to have all the electronics charged. Not a single complaint, everyone was comfortable beyond compare. The trip was 11 hours each way, factoring in stops for bathroom and food. While in the outer banks I saw one period of driving, the first 100 miles leaving for the way home where I averaged 25.7 mpg, slow steady state, traffic free flat land, 55mph cruising. I will admit, I monitor my driving and kept it in v4 mode as much as possible, it worked. this trip brought the lifetime fuel economy for the truck up to 20mpg. We took the truck to the outer banks for a week, 520 miles … each way, on this trip I averaged 22 mpg, fully loaded, 2 adults, 2 kids, a dog, and truck bed full of beach gear, clothes, food, grill supplies, etc, etc. In local driving, I have been averaging about 17 mpg, not bad considering the terrain and the size of the vehicle. Up in North Jersey, the terrain is all hills, almost nothing flat. I live in North NJ and appreciate the ride of the truck with the garbage roads we have. Maybe one day I'll install 4.10's, and at that point I would give AFM another try.\\ I don't think I get any benefit from the AFM with the 305's and 3.23s. I plan on having the AFM turned off when I tune in a couple weeks anyway. The intake is much louder than the exhaust in the cab, but that could be because I ran the tailpipe straight out underneath the rear bumper. I should have run a 3.5-3" Y after the muffler and ran duals, but I was going for a sleeper/factory look to begin with. The guy cut it up to fit, and got it as close to the factory look I wanted (from 6.0 equipped trucks), but without a bender it isn't exactly where I wanted it. I really didn't want a big 4" pipe hanging underneath a half ton truck, but I didn't have much of a choice. I called a few shops and the only solution I found was a universal 4" tailpipe kit from a 2500HD truck. However, I did not realize that no one in the state of Arkansas can bend 3.5" pipe, so I had to find a way around it. I ordered a 22" 3.5" in/out Magnaflow off Amazon, then called around for someone to install it. Sounds like what a big 6.2 should sound likeĪlso got exhaust installed. However, I think it was worth it, and you get used to the sound quickly. Man does this 6.2 suck some air, you can really hear the intake and the deep throaty sound of the motor revving up going down the road and when you really get into the skinny pedal. Got my full Cold Air Intake installed with the pre-filter from AirRaid.
